Building a custom home is no simple task. From visiting lots and producing floor plans from scratch to guiding clients as they make selections, our office team works together to document every client’s vision. In the field, our Project Managers and subcontractors bring those documents to life.
Collaboration, communication, listening, flexibility, creativity, practicality, knowledge, and experience – these are only a few words to describe the tools and qualities needed to guide our clients through their home building journey.
Jeremy works with clients through the initial design process.
“I take over the project shortly after the client signs our Design Agreement. The first meeting (our Pre-Design meeting) is for us to capture the vision of their project. Establishing a floor plan that includes their wishes, while being conscientious of their budget is the goal of this meeting. Joe (architect) and I visit the property to determine house placement and foundation needs.
The following weeks are spent creating the client’s floor presentations. After each presentation is finished, we meet with them to hear feedback and make revisions, as necessary. Once a final presentation is agreed settled on, the floor plan and elevations (exterior rendering) are drawn, and we move the project to estimating. Keaton (our internal estimator) will then generate a First Estimate.
After the First Estimate is discussed, we schedule a 3-Day Design meeting to discuss the details of the home and make changes. Then, our team meets to compile all the information discussed to create a Contract set of plans. Once the contract set is generated, we finalize the drawings and release a Construction Contract.
In summary, I am here to guide our clients along the long but rewarding process of building a custom home!
Building a custom house is a challenge. We are imperfect, and we attempt to capture every detail. Every house we build is different. We strive to make it an easy process and meet each client’s requests.”
Grace works with clients from the start of selections to the end of construction.
“My first main interaction with a client is at our 3-Day Design Meeting. That’s when we really dive into the nitty gritty details, trying to capture as much as possible before the Construction Contract is signed. Jeremy and I work together to guide each client through a checklist of decisions, such as flooring materials, door selections, home accents, fireplace layouts, window locations, plumbing/electric details, and so much more.
After the 3-Day Design Meeting, our team works together to incorporate the client’s decisions and changes into the final estimate, plans, and specifications. From there, Jeremy officially hands the client over to me, where I continue to guide them through their remaining selections.
Internally, I oversee selections, which includes working with our local vendors, checking quotes for accuracy, placing orders and managing deliveries, keeping up with current pricing, and most importantly, making sure the Project Managers have the information they need to keep the job on task, on schedule, and with minimal mistakes.
No job is ever 100% perfect, and we are always looking for ways to improve our process. But I believe that Timberlake has created a system that works, and we have a great, hardworking team of people who want to get better every day.”
